“The greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.” Michelangelo
Setting a lofty goal is admirable, but we must understand ourselves and capabilities enough to make it attainable.
If you're starting to think that goal setting is a little more challenging than you first thought, you're in good company. Too many people fail to put thought and reflection into their goal which causes good goals to be forgotten.
After making your goal specific and measurable, we must also be sure it's ATTAINABLE. Ask yourself, "Is this something I can actually achieve?"
Finally, make sure your achievement is in YOUR control. Steer away from goals that rely on elements over which you have no control. For instance, "Get a raise" is a goal outside your control where "Spend 35 minutes each day walking to improve my health" is within your control.
Now we're making progress!
The next step to setting our SMART goals is to make them RELEVENT.
'Till Next Time,
