For the Love of Coffee

Mister G

My first cup of coffee was horrible.

I was about 10 and I so badly wanted to drink coffee like the adults sitting around the kitchen table. I added sugar... and more sugar. Finally, I got to the point where I couldn't taste the coffee anymore- just sugar.

Over the months and years I eventually decreased to the brew I enjoy today. My coffee is perfectly simple; hot, strong, black.

Today, coffee can feel more like a science experiment than a daily ritual. A million flavored syrups, creamers, and foams that mask the rich, complex flavor of pure coffee. Coffee receipts that resemble grocery lists.

Double Shot

Half-Caff

Soy

3 Pumps Chocolate

1 Pump Cinnamon

1 Pump White Chocolate

2 Pumps Brown Sugar

Extra Whip

Extra Hot

Cocoa Powder

....the list goes on.

But here’s the truth: Coffee doesn’t have to be complicated to be great.

At its core, coffee is about something simple—flavors, aroma, comfort, ritual, connection. It’s about taking a moment for yourself in the morning before the world starts pulling you in a hundred directions. It’s about sharing a cup with someone and letting conversation flow.

So let’s bring coffee back to what it was meant to be: a simple, enjoyable part of life.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by coffee choices, take a step back. Find a roast that smells good to you. Brew it however feels easy and natural. Then, just sit with it. No judgment, no overthinking—just you and a good cup of coffee.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about the longest receipt, the misspelled name, or the logo on the cup. It’s about the experience.

And that’s something worth savoring.
